Eco-chic, Vegan Retreat: Ecocirer Boutique Hotel in Sóller, Mallorca

Updated: Aug 14, 2023

If you’re looking to experience true relaxation in a uniquely sustainable Mallorcan hotel, Ecocirer’s location, food, and essence will leave you feeling invigorated and like you’ve found home away from home.

Situated on a peaceful side street in Sóller, Mallorca, Ecocirer is a tranquil, yet luxurious and eco-friendly retreat. Just a short walk from the town’s main square, bustling with cafés and eateries, Ecocirer is an ideal choice for a getaway. One of the main draws of Ecocirer is its closeness to the Serra de Tramuntana Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Planet-Conscious Through-and-Through

The sophisticated interiors of the hotel are cosy, with welcome details that are sure to put a smile on your face! From the moment you step into the lobby, you'll be greeted by the calming scent of essential oils and the soothing sounds of nature. The plush couches in the seating areas are the perfect place to relax, get some work done, or curl up with a good book!

Each of the six different rooms at Ecocirer is named to represent a wish for each person who visits the hotel, all entirely furnished with recycled and upcycled furniture and decor that has been restored and given a second or even third life.

The luxurious beds are complete with elegant grey and white organic linens, with immaculate locally-sourced marble bathrooms that include large walk-in rain showers and fragrant, homemade orange blossom toiletries. All rooms have the option of air-conditioning, and include bathrobes, towels, an essential oil diffuser, and a kettle for making supplied organic teas, as well as a litre of natural mineral water.

Owners Barbara and Martin truly prioritise sustainability and go even further by growing their own food for the hotel, minimising waste by using and offering no single-use packaging, and properly recycling any additional waste. The supplied toiletries in the rooms are all made by using only the finest natural organic ingredients and essential oils, and are made by Barbara herself, meant to be refilled after each guest. If you want to take some of the luxurious products home with you, they are sold separately in amber glass jars downstairs by reception. Additionally, to reduce energy and water use and waste, bed linens and towels are changed every three days unless otherwise requested, and of course in between guests.

With features in publications including Condé Nast Traveller, Architectural Digest, and many more, Ecocirer emulates the comfort and personal touches of a small B&B, but offers stays and experiences worthy of a five-star resort.

Plant-Based Heaven

The sun-soaked back courtyard is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious and nutritious breakfast every morning. With tables situated alongside a small swimming pool, Ecocirer serves a delicious and filling breakfast, with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal, organic ingredients and plant-based nutrition. Everything is free from refined sugar, is made using only natural ingredients, and offers you perfectly balanced dishes to start your day.

Our personal favourites were the coconut yoghurt with berries and homemade nut granola dish, followed by a delicious avocado-”salmon” (made from marinated papaya!) toast! The dishes change every day, and Barbara and Martin make everything from scratch, and ensure simplicity, seasonality, and accessibility is at the heart of each dish. With two young children themselves, they ensure that their meals are flavourful, colourful, and delicious for all ages.

Before leaving, be sure to pick up a copy of Barbara and Martin's cookbook Eating Colors as well as their new cookbook centred around the delicious dishes made at Ecocirer, called Breakfast Included. They ship worldwide, and after purchasing both books, we can attest that they are sooo worth it!

A Year-Round Destination

Sóller is a small, but picturesque, town, whose residents have known each other for most of their lives. To further foster a spirit of community and collaboration, guests can also enjoy specialised massages, pilates and yoga sessions, and even rent bicycles to explore the town or nearby mountain trails from local practitioners and businesses. Ecocirer also has bicycle storage for guests who may want to spend a few nights in the town before cycling further down the coast or up into the mountains.

Although often thought to be a summer destination, Mallorca’s beauty is present year-round and offers something to do in each season. Ecocirer is a perfect destination for those looking for a relaxing, stylish, and eco-friendly stay. With its award-winning credentials, excellent art and design, delicious plant-based food, and wellness-focused facilities, Ecocirer is a must-visit for those seeking a sustainable and slow travel experience in Mallorca!
