Sustainability
- Anse Chastanet was built on the site of an older hotel before being renovated by owner-architect Nick Troubetzkoy in the 1960s by centring nature at every turn: from building around trees so that they can continue to thrive, to using coral floors, hand-carved wooden beams, and passive open-air rooms.
- The hotel owns a 27-acre organic farm, Emerald Estate, where they grow 40% of all food served on-site, as well as the flowers and plants used throughout the hotel.
- When the hotel first opened, it was unknown that one of the island's best and most biodiverse reefs lay just steps from the shore. Owners Nick and Karolin thereby helped found the Soufrière Marine Management Area (SMMA) to ensure that this fragile ecosystem is managed, conserved, and restored responsibly.
- Part of these reef restoration efforts includes an in-water coral nursery, that guests are encouraged to snorkel above, accompanied by a marine biologist, or scuba amongst.
